General Grant (Curt Fields) is pleased to announce he will be a part of the great annual celebration in Lerna, Illinois, Lincoln Log Cabin Civil War Days. He hopes all, who may be able, will attend this outstanding Civil War event and pass the time of day with him.  He will be joined by President Lincoln (George Buss).  They both hope you will see fit to join them in History!

There will be a CIVIL WAR BALL on Saturday Evening for all to enjoy!

It is believed that a civilian from Galena, a Captain Grant, will be in attendance at the Ball.  Not much is known about Captain Grant, a veteran of the Mexican war, but he is a civilian working under the direct employ of Governor Richard Yates to recruit our Illinois boys for the Union.  Come meet the captain and join up!  Who knows?  He may amount to something!

Come mingle with our boys in blue at a Civil War Ball! A dance caller will be teaching mid-late 19th century dances, while the Salt Creek String Band plays Civil War era music and instruments under the visitor center portico. Period evening attire is encouraged but not necessary. Modern semi-formal attire or attire from other historic eras is also welcome! Families with children encouraged to attend.

This event is part of Civil War Weekend at Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site. For the full schedule of events, please visit https://www.facebook.com/events/481418465602163/ or for more information email info@lincolnlogcabin.org.

Visit with union soldiers who will be encamped, watch mounted and dismounted drilling exercises, and learn about the lives of Civil War soldiers. Special presentations will be scheduled throughout the weekend in the Visitor Center Auditorium (see schedule below). The event is free and open to the public.
